Centre justifies ban on SIMI, says it supports Jihad
The Centre, in its affidavit filed on Wednesday in the Supreme Court, has said that an organisation that aims to establish Islamic rule cannot be permitted to operate in a secular society.
According to the ATS sources, on September 26 last, the ATS had arrested Lukman of AQIS/JMB module and exposed the network.
Uttar Pradesh ATS has arrested one, Azharuddin, who was allegedly involved in luring youths in the name of spreading jihad in the country.
After the arrest, Azharuddin, a resident of Saharanpur, was interrogated by the ATS in Lucknow on Saturday.
According to ATS sources, on September 26 last, the ATS had arrested Lukman of AQIS/JMB module and exposed the network. Later, they arrested 10 other people related to Lukman, and the name of Azharuddin came up.

Sources said Azharuddin used to provide videos and literature to the youth with the intent to spread Jihad.
The network of Azharuddin and his mentor Lukman was trying to enforce Sharia law in India.
